What We Do

We develop, implement and service employee benefit programs for small to medium size Arizona based companies (5-100 employees).

Companies of this size rarely have a certified Human Resource manager. Managing employee benefits is one of many “hats” worn by either the owner, office manager, or general manager.

The idea of becoming the Benefits Department for these firms started to take form in the mid nineties.

Whether it is personally enrolling new employees, explaining the benefits, handling Open Enrollment, or assisting in challenging claims situations, Doug makes sure he is always available for these types of services. Our clients gratefully let us handle these tasks for them. As their advocate, it saves business managers time, energy and frustration.

Insurance is complicated enough, we take the “argh” out of dealing with employee benefits.

Doug Gray

Founder

Doug Gray is the founder of The Benefits Department, in partnership with the LBL Group of California. After earning his license in 1992 his first focus was helping people obtain Life and Disability Insurance. At the urging of his mentor, Bob Hart of Paragon Partners, Ltd, in 1995 he changed his focus to Employee Benefits. Finding new and creative approaches has been Doug’s specialty. Doug has been a member of the Agent Advisory Board for United Healthcare of Arizona, and a four time member of Transamerica’s Leading Producers Group. He is formerly The Chairman of Hope Builders Board for Valley Hope Rehabilitation Centers.

Doug works tirelessly to provide ongoing service at all times including after hours and on weekends. He always says “Accidents and illness don’t keep office hours – nor do I”.

Eleanor Schroeder

Advisor

Advisor/Producer in Arizona, in partnership with The Benefits Department an agency partner of Acrisure of Michigan. My specialty is in captive self-funding; however, thru my partnership with Doug Gray, we offer an array of custom solutions for all size groups and needs. I am a graduate from the University of Arizona and a current NAIFA member. My personal mission is affordable quality healthcare for all!
